Home Support – Bray

Permanent Part Time 80 hours per month

We are currently seeking a Community Support Worker to provide support to multiple clients in managing all aspects of their life.  The successful candidates will assist in supporting the client in their interests, needs, hopes, and dreams.  Working hours will be variable day shifts Monday to Sunday as well as an on-call service. Applicants must be flexible to meet the requirements of the services required. Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding and ability to implement our ethos and values. 


Applicants must have:

  • A QQI Level 7 Degree in Social Care or foreign equivalent (validated by QQI).
  • One year’s post qualification experience of working with adults with intellectual disability
  • Use of own car & full driving licence
  • Have a working knowledge of all relevant legislation and a proven ability to implement standards and regulations.  
  • Experience of working alone in a one-to-one environment as well as experience of teamwork.
  • Experience/knowledge in Mental Health.
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic, and creative with excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • A strong interest in organizing and participating in activities and supports in the community.
  • An interest in healthy eating and exercise.
  • Have an ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet and responsible manner.
  • Have an ability to work with the client and their family in own home and an ability to encourage participation in activities and training.
  • Have an ability to support the person’s medical issues following training delivered by SHS and to support Client with medical appointments.
  • Excellent personal & interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and report writing skills. 
  • Experience of dealing with complex behaviours that challenge and with behavioural supports, CPI-MAPA experience
  • Experience of working with dual diagnosis, in alternative communications and creative problem-solving techniques

  • To promote and protect the rights of people in a manner that respects their dignity, their right to make choices and their privacy
  • To actively seek new interests and opportunities for people to develop meaningful roles in their communities
  • To ensure the overall wellbeing of clients in all areas of their lives including health and personal care
  • To assist in the teaching of life skills in cooking, budgeting, cleaning & building confidence


Salary Scale: Successful candidates will be paid as per the HSE consolidated pay scales in line with required qualifications and relevant experience.
