Information about the Programme Provider
KARE is an innovative and progressive voluntary organisation, promoting inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, in Counties Kildare, West Wicklow and East Offaly. KARE in association with SOLAS have developed a Community Support Programme aimed at equipping participants with the necessary competencies to support people with specific needs in a variety of settings within the community. Participants will be given the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a number of different organisations in the Community/Healthcare sector that will enhance their opportunities to progress to further education or employment. 

Programme Duration and Allowances
The course is run on a full time basis (35 hours per week) over 44 Weeks and work experience placements may involve some evening and weekend participation. The programme is due to start in Oct. 2015 (SUBJECT TO CONTINUED FUNDING APPROVAL). Solas Training allowances are paid to those who are currently in receipt of a payment from Social Welfare.
Applicants Requirements:
§ Registered with SOLAS and meet Social Welfare criteria. Details available on http://www.solas.ie
§ Available to attend the programme full time.
§ Interested in supporting people with specific needs within the community
§ Prepared to actively participate in the programme for the entire duration
§ Motivated to complete the required assessments
§ Applicants will be required to complete the Garda Vetting process
§ Access to use of a car and be prepared to travel to work placements.

This programme offers participants the opportunity to gain a QQI level 5 Major Award in Community and Health Services (5N4468)
