We are called the Rhythm Circle. Every Wednesday we go over to do music with Tommy Breen in ‘The Vault’ community Centre. We play percussion instruments like bodhrans, shakers, bongos and lots more. Some of us play tin whistles and Tommy is teaching us some tunes. We are learning about the scale, light and shade, pace and tempo and how to listen to each other when playing as a group.
It is good fun. We enjoy going to the youth centre. Two girls from the youth centre are part of our group too. It’s great playing music together.
Members of the Rhythm circle are Andrew Banak, Paul Roche, Rachel Langrell, Tara Cawley, Tomek Rozanski, Killian Byrne, David Stafford, Maria Mc Millan and Martina Byrne from the youth centre.
We are planning to take part in some concerts in the future.
KUDOS to TOMMY BREEN. My fab sister Róisín fills me in when we chat on FaceTime all about her Wednesday Bodhran playing sessions with Tommy & anywhere else that she plays it. She loves music, this program and I know for a fact that she practices at home too. I’m so proud of her. I’m pretty sure also, that this is a super fun afternoon for all of the students. Can’t wait to see future pictures/video of all in concert Mary.
